Ocean Beach Hotel – House Policy

The Ocean Beach HotelÕs House Policy is a frame work within which the business operates by outlining practices, procedures and conditions. It serves to guide the behavior of staff to assist in serving liquor responsibly and to deal with difficult situations when they arise.

When serving liquor the following should be kept in mind:

Do not serve liquor to anyone who is under age
Recognise the signs of intoxication
Try not to serve anyone to the point of intoxication
Do not serve anyone who is already intoxicated
Try to discourage people from engaging in activities that can harm themselves or others.

  1. We bring to your attention it is against the law to sell or supply alcohol to any person who is under the age of 18 years.

  2. We reserve the right to request proof of age of any customer.

  3. We will not allow any violent, indecent or quarrelsome behavior on these premises. We seek to create an environment that may be enjoyed by all patrons.

  4. We reserve the right to refuse service to those persons intoxicated or adversely affected by alcohol.

  5. We reserve the right to define ÒintoxicationÓ and Òadverse affectÓ for this purpose.

  6. Any such persons defined as above who do not leave the hotel premises when requested, commit an offence and are subject to an on the spot fine.

  7. The management wishes to encourage patrons to enquire about our extensive range of low and non-alcoholic drinks. All our staff are trained in Responsible Service and will always assist in advising on a safe transport option.

It is imperative that all staff members have the knowledge and expertise to encourage responsible serving practices and be aware of the necessity to implement strategies to prevent intoxication occurring. By ensuring staff are supported in preventing intoxication and underage drinking it will ensure that patrons and employees enjoy a friendly and safe environment.
